Manx
/The Manx language is still spoken on the Island and is rich with old sayings and proverbs. Here are some of our favourites, with a translation for the benefit of those who do not speak Manx:
Traa-dy-liooar
“Time enough”
Cur failleil er y reaghey, jean reaghey son y cohuittym
“Fail to plan – plan to fail”
Cha jagh moylley ghooinney hene rieau foddey voish eghorrys
“A man’s praise for himself never went far from his door”
Cha bee breagery credjit ga dy ninsh eh y n'irriney
"A liar will not be believed though he speaks the truth"
Drilling an exploration well is always a tense time for those involved in it, even the lawyers and contracts specialists whose contribution is usually finished before the well is begun. . .
